I'd say it was definitely in the running for worst BBC programme "evah" - of the ones I've had the misfortune to come across, anyway. I don't generally listen to any radio nor watch the stuff which is pre-labelled as being religious tat and hence guaranteed to be full of lies. So it could conceivably be further down the list of the BBC's sins than I'm guessing.

One problem is that there isn't a law against that reverse-defamation type of disinformation, ie telling flattering falsehoods (though I think there should be), and the modern BBC has apparently seldom regarded its remit (to inform rather than mis-inform and to educate rather than mis-educate) as being particularly binding. They also only have the slenderest grasp of the "to entertain" component, despite that being the only thing which genuinely seems to matter to them at all in their misguided ratings-chasing game.

Worst of all was the whole misguided quote along the lines of "Science doesn't claim to explain the big questions such as 'Where did we come from?' or 'Why are we here?' ... Therefore religion must be right." It takes some doing to distract me from a puzzle but this certainly managed it.

I saw the C.S. Lewis programme (although only half-watching it as I was doing a puzzle at the time). I loved the way the first half was hype, then they quickly explained the link with the planets, then they went "right, to hell with C.S. Lewis, here's some theology". The arguments were quite flaky at best.
