The six August posts went over to the new blog's copy of this entry. Meanwhile, from the graphs (and the lists of latest entries and posts) I'm approximately the only user of this site! :-o You've all gone and got real lives or something. Is that a distant oinking flapping sound approaching ...

The big worry really would probably be one of the trees getting hit by lightning, and falling over. We have some very big trees in our back garden, and some of the trees in the woods behind our house have fallen over before, in very windy weather conditions (http://img.min-data.co.uk/?11 [img.min-data.co.uk]).

Generally tents are safe in thunderstorms. As long as your rain fly is working properly (keeping the inside dry), it's as good a place as anywhere else in your backyard.

NB They shouldn't have been able to turn round and see the lightning strike after hearing the thunder. It would have to be a different stroke (rapid multiples are the norm though).

York. A good few hours on a train away, so they won't be annoying us too much.

With regards to the wedding presents, I haven't actually seen my uncle in at least 6 years, if not much longer (with the exception of my grandparents golden wedding anniversary a week before he was originally going to get married), so I don't really know him that well.

Yeh, my brother hasn't been that annoying lately. I have to look after him a lot next week, so that may change

Well I suppose that saved you the trouble of getting them a wedding present - often a very tricky decision individually which still somehow results in multiple copies of the same item being bought and then causing a problem for the recipients too.

However, if they live anywhere near you, you'll soon be plagued by more small relatives than just your brother. Incidentally, he can't have been so much of a nuisance of late since you haven't blogged about him.

I did have an icon (pre-internet) of a burning/melting radio handset though. It was created for the test software of said gadget - which was already known as inadvertently having self-destruct settings (somewhat less dramatic than a StarTrek phaser).
